OUR VINEYARDS

Altar Maggiore

It is our most iconic vineyard, covering an area of ​​approximately 5000 m2.
It develops on terraces supported by perfectly restored ancient dry stone walls.
It is located at an altitude of approximately 600 m. above sea level, with southern exposure.
The soil is rich in skeleton, in particular Alberese and Galestro. The grape variety is Sangiovese trained with Guyot, with a planting density of approximately 7000 vines per ha.

La Quercia 

It is located in the center of the natural amphitheater created by our vineyards, in a very ventilated area. It is recognizable precisely because of the beautiful oak tree that stands in the center. Here too, all the dry stone walls that support the terraces have been restored by hand. In this case, the drainage behind the walls has been strengthened, as there is clay in addition to Alberese and Galestro; the latter serves as a water reserve but must be managed to minimize the mechanical thrust it may have on the structure of the walls.
The vineyard has a surface area of ​​approximately 4500 m2. Exposed to the South/West, it has a planting density of approximately 7000 vines per ha. The grape variety is Sangiovese grown using Guyot.

La Sorgente

Exposed to the South/West, it covers an area of ​​approximately 1 hectare. It was planted in 1970. The vine is Sangiovese and in a very small part also Canaiolo. Cultivation system is the Tuscan double inverted, as it was once done. The planting density is approximately 3500 vines per hectare. The presence of these vines over 50 years old guarantees a ripening of the grapes even in very dry years and gives a beautiful structure and complexity to our wines.

Antica Vigna Promiscua

It is the oldest vineyard of our company. There are vines over 60 years old. Here too we find Sangiovese and a small part of Canaiolo. It was planted, as was once done, interspersed with a row of olive trees. This has many advantages: it protects from extreme weather events and guarantees regular ripening of the grapes. The planting density here is around 1500 vines per hectare. From this vineyard comes a very complex and structured wine.
In fact we decided to create our own Cru.
A limited edition of around 400/500 bottles per year in the best years.
